This is a thread of all of my exogenous ketone self-experiments. If you need to learn more about this unique supplement, refer to my Exogenous Ketone 101 article. Check back on this thread frequently to see new self-experiments I am running using exogenous ketones.

Exogenous Ketones Trail #1: Fasted Use

Question: What is the general fasted response to exogenous ketones?

Subjects- 1 (Myself)

Methods

In the morning at 11 am after a 14 hour fast, I tested my blood glucose and ketones using a Keto Mojo meter. I then consumed 1 scoop of Perfect Keto’s Keto Base supplement with 10 oz. of water. Drink was consumed in less than 2 minutes. Ketones and glucose were tested at the 20, 40, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 190 minute marks.

During the testing I was staying sedentary working, seated at a desk.

Results:

Blood Ketone Response

My corresponding blood glucose numbers during this time were in order: 95, 94, 93, 90, 94, 90, 91, 89.

Conclusion:

As you can see from the results, I demonstrated a pretty mild increase in ketone levels that was sustained over the course of three hours. Typically, I see an increase that only lasts about 2 hours before returning to baseline. However, I speculate that since I was 14 hours fasted going into the experiment, plus another 3 during the experiment, I may have been experiencing some natural ketone production that was impacting the numbers towards the end of the study.

In my next study I will try to keep it to a shorter fast prior to consuming this supplement to see how that impacts the results.
